"Congratulations my love, I miss you. I miss him so much," his wife said wistfully.

The family also celebrated the union, but with a lot. The children, noras and grandchildren sang "Congratulations" and recorded a video. In the images, one of the granddaughters held a photo with the wedding photo of Matthias and María José.

One of the couple's daughters, Anne Shirlly of Sousa Silva, said her parents had met in Brasilia and had never been apart for so long. "They've always done everything together, it's been very difficult for everyone," he explained.

"Because it had been a long time since they were away from each other, and since it's a special date (50 years of marriage), the family really wanted it to be seen and stay close."

Upon entering the room in which her husband is hospitalized, Maria José was a mixture of joy, nostalgia, love and worry.

"Soon, soon, we'll get you there, fine. No problem," she told her husband.
